The Assessment of Compared Qualities — Social Interaction (ACQ-SI) is a new partner tool to the Evaluation of Social Interaction (ESI).

The ACQ-SI is used to measure the extent of the discrepancy between:

The occupational therapist administers the ACQ-SI by conducting a 5-10 minute semi-structured interview after each task observation to gather the client’s perspective on the social interaction. The occupational therapist then systematically compares the client’s perspective to the ESI ratings. The occupational therapist uses our software to generate an ACQ-SI Results Report which includes an ACQ-SI measure.

The ACQ-SI measure represents the extent of the discrepancy between the client’s perspective on his/her social interaction and the occupational therapist’s perspective, as rated using the ESI. The occupational therapist can use an ACQ-SI measure to plan intervention that accounts for the client’s perspective; to support the occupational therapist’s clinical reasoning on the client’s potential to improve his/her social interaction; and advocate for needed supports for the client. The ACQ-SI measure can also be used as an outcome measure — providing evidence that a client’s perspective on the quality of his/her social interaction has changed.
